June 3, 2008 - Capable of carrying 4,000 gallons of water and complete with 6 dust supression sprayers, a front water broom pavement washing system, and a water cannon capable of spraying a stream of water over 200 feet, Manteno Quarry's new water truck plays an important role in the quarry's comprehensive dust control program.

At more than $100,000, the 2007 Freightliner M2, is an important capitol investment for the facility said plant manager Tim Theobald. "With this new vehicle, we can more efficiently cover the roads at the quarry to better control dust."

Theobald and the team are proud of the rig which also touts decorative paint on the hood. "We're already talking about incorporating the truck into the Oktoberfest parade and making other appearances around the county."

The quarry's dust control program also includes dust suppression systems on conveyors, watering of stockpiles as needed and an upgraded wheel wash to clean customer trucks. Manteno Quarry also runs a street sweeper on Rt. 50 when needed.
