Vulcan to serve as title sponsor for 4th consecutive year

June 11, 2009 - Summer may be just beginning but that won't stop the Manteno Oktoberfest Planning Committee from jumpstarting plans for the most anticipated community event of the year! The Oktoberfest Planning Committee today announced that Manteno's 2009 Oktoberfest will take place September 24 - 27 and include the annual Lighted Parade, live entertainment and a number of other family-friendly activities. The Committee, which has been hard at work arranging event participants, vendors and activities, also announced that Vulcan Materials Company will serve as the event's title sponsor for the 4th year in a row.

"Our community is lucky to have a tremendous partner like Vulcan," said Dan Usrey, Co-President of the Oktoberfest Planning Committee. "Oktoberfest is a wonderful time of fellowship and it would not be possible without the generosity of our sponsors and volunteers."

Vulcan will donate a $10,000 grant to support the four-day series of autumn festivities. Businesses looking to promote their company and expand visibility may take advantage of a wide range of sponsorship packages available, ranging from $100 to $2,500. Packages provide a unique opportunity for companies to showcase their brand at one of the most highly-attended festivals in Kankakee County. Oktoberfest will take place on Main Street in downtown Manteno.

"We are excited for the opportunity to be a part of Oktoberfest again this year," said Bryan Lane, Manager of Vulcan Material Company's Manteno Quarry and a member of the Oktoberfest Planning Committee. "We believe it is important to give back to our neighbors and support the Manteno community in as many ways as possible."

Oktoberfest events will include carnival rides, musical entertainment, a farmer's market, games, a 5K run/walk and a chili cook-off. The Committee will also return Vulcan's popular "Kid's Corner," where children can fossil-hunt, play in "Manteno's Largest Sandbox," and explore a fascinating rock exhibit featuring a variety of unique and native stones to the Manteno area.

In years past, Oktoberfest has drawn thousands from across the region to enjoy beer tents, live band performances, raffles and carnival contests. For more information on sponsorship opportunities, contact Dan Usrey at dusrey@searshc.com or Paula Hampton at manteno@municipalbank.com.
